Best Equinox Clubs & Classes in NYC

  1. Sports Club NYC - I love this club. It is the biggest Equinox in the city that I've ever been in.. The Locker Rooms are to your right as you walk in the main floor. I recommend grabbing some cold water and crushed ice from the machine next to the cafe. It's my fav. My favorite yoga teachers are  Jo Hall, Jade Alexis, Robert Nguyen, Restorative Yoga with Suzanne Taylor & Ashtanga Yoga with Evan Perry. This club has a Feldenkrais Method class with Frederick Schjang  which is really unique. Most classes are filled with 55+ folks which is my dream demo to work out next to. I love dance class with Melanie Kalia, it is pretty challenging if you aren't familiar with jazz/modern/funk? Melanie is very welcoming & patient which makes it a really comfortable environment. Johnny P's dance class is like a cabaret show you didn't know you were going to be a part of. The  front row dancers are the ones to watch. They typically run the warm up while Johnny walks around and smoozes with everyone in class. Johnny is hilarious and his style of dance & teaching is easy to pick up, especially after a few classes. The pool at this club is really nice and is located on the main floor connected to the locker room. It gets a little packed during peak hours. I love running or walking around the outdoor track. It has beautiful views of the upper west side, Lincoln Center, Juilliard and the busy streets. It also smells like popcorn because there is a movie theater below the track, which keeps me motivated.
  2. Greenwich Village - This club is in one of my favorite neighborhoods in Manhattan. It is right by the 1,2,3 train which makes it really convenient. The world Aids memorial is right across the street which is something I recommend taking the time to read. My favorite classes are Dance with Tootsie Olan - AMAZING, Abby Goldenberg - AMAZING but intimidating, Calvinography - so fun. All of these classes are not for the faint of heart. It takes a few times to start to feel comfortable if you aren't a trained dancer. But, after a handful of classes you will learn how to transform into a fierce dancing machine. ;). The Yoga classes are great, my favorite teachers are Nadia Zaki & Robert Nguyen. I also really enjoyed Pilates with Mathew Makings.  Fun fact this club was on the news because an employee was storing guns here? something crazy like that, google it.  I have seen Andy Cohen & The Queer eye guys working out here. If it's good enough for Jonathan Van Ness, it's good enough for me. ;)
  3. Bond Street - It feels like everyone is a model here so be prepared for that.  I love the Dance Class with Tootsie Olan and any of the hot yoga classes are great. I recommend taking a walk down Bond Street after your workout. There are a ton of new luxury buildings that are beautiful.
  4. Hudson Yards
  5. High Line
  6. Orchard
