I know it's 2015, but I have to admit i didn't understand exactly what podcast were until a couple of weeks ago. Now, I listen to them daily (for free) on my iPhone. I knew my friend , Amanda, would have some good suggestions.

Check them out below!

Amanda Meyncke is a Community Manager/Editor at Women.com , and a writer and director living in Los Angeles.

Criminal -- one crime each week, they investigate and solve. A nice second helping after Serial.

The Heart -- this podcast is the sexiest I listen to, but it’s very very well-produced and the stuff they do with audio producing makes it worth listening to for sure. But yeah, pretty racy stuff. Don’t listen around parents or kids.

Reply All -- kind of a fun show about the internet and different internet foibles hosted by two guys. Nice and short mostly.

The Truth -- This one is my absolute favorite. Tons of amazing radio play type stories, so so well produced and so well done, not lame at all even though radio play sounds lame, they’re like movies for your ears.

This American Life -- the goddamn gold standard of podcasts, the one that started it all, This American Life is amazing, the best produced and so great and timeless. Pick any episode from the past 15 years.

StartUp Podcast -- gives a good glimpse into starting a business in America, is fun to listen to if you love tech and start up culture.

Making It with Riki Lindhome -- actress Riki lindhome interviews a different actor or director every episode about how they made it in LA. So fun to listen to.

Welcome to Nightvale -- my absolute favorite podcast of all time. An incredible story but it’s hard to explain. Every episode is a different dispatch from the community radio station and the radio host.

Love + Radio -- another hard one to explain. Good stories from the fringes of society. No narrative, just recordings and you figure out what’s going on.

99% invisible -- SO GOOD. A podcast about design and the world around us. Short and sweet.
